Thompson named MIAA
Player of the Week
Missouri
Southern senior wide receiver Daniel Thompson
has been named the MIAA Football Player of the Week as announced
by the league office today.
Thompson (Carl
Junction Class of 2005) picked up career-highs in touchdown
catches (3) and yards (160) in the Lions upset win of 12th
ranked Missouri Western on the road this week. His 10-yard catch
with 12 seconds left on the clock proved to be the game winner
for the Lions and in the final game-winning drive, he caught
four passes for 43 yards, including two catches for first downs
and another for the game-winning touchdown.
Thompson now has 10 touchdown catches on the season,
ranking him third all-time at Southern behind Rod Smith’s 15 in
1991 and 14 in 1993 and is just the second Lion all-time to have
double-digit touchdown catches in a season, joining Smith in
that category. He currently ranks fourth in the MIAA in scoring
and third in scoring (touchdowns).
