McRae tops 1,000 career points

Top-seeded Webb City and No. 2 Nevada registered semifinal victories Wednesday night in Class 4 District 12 girls basketball tournament at Nevada High school.

The Cardinals built a 54-29 halftime advantage en route to a 79-59 victory over fourth-seeded Carl Junction. Nevada defeated Harrisonville 61-54 in the second game.

Hailey Roderique tallied 24 points to pace Webb City (25-1), followed by Kaitlin Jaeger with 19 and Kyndal Clark with 16.

Carl Junction senior Lauren McRae captured game honors with 28 points, giving her 1,020 points for her career. McRae added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Mackenzie Valenti and Maddie Stevenson contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Bulldogs (9-19).

In the nightcap Nevada rallied from a 22-18 first-quarter deficit to lead 35-31 at halftime and 52-44 after three quarters.

Tiffani Long topped the Tigers with 19 points. Heather Thomas Lauren Klinksick both scored 11.

Sarah Holland popped in five 3-point goals while scoring 31 points for Harrisonville.

The championship game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
